Trailside Tree House in Richmond Virginia

Richmond VA is such a great city. We’ve been here 11 years and every year I fall more in love. In addition to all of the history Richmond has the best restaurants! If you want true Neapolitan pizza Pupatella’s on N Morris Street is the place to go! They’ve also recently opened one in Short Pump. If you’re looking for a bigger meal, amazing mixed drinks and a quant experience Bellmont Food Shop is on the top of my list! It’s very tiny with only 6 tables and a bar, so you’ll want to make a reservation. Of course there are all of the beautiful and unique murals decorating the buildings. If you’re into live music any night of the week you have many options to choose from. If you’re a musician and want to connect with other musicians you definitely want to check out Orbital Music Park!
There are so many more things I could list that makes Richmond such an amazing city, but the purpose of this blog is to enlighten you about a hidden magical place that has the power to take all of your worries away! A place that releases your inner child. A place that brings you closer to the ones you love. Imagine a real life Neverland only there is no evil Captain Hook (unless of course you choose to bring him into your adventure). There is such a place that exists and you can find it right here in Richmond VA!
The Trailside Treehouse was by far one of the best experiences my family has encountered. I heard about the Treehouse a couple of years ago and new this was a place we had to stay. This spring I started looking at dates and it just so happened they had an opening (one of the few openings still available) on my son’s 11th birthday, so I booked it. When we arrived we were greeted by Carrie (the host) her children and Huck (their chocolate Lab). You may feel a little weird at first because the treehouse is in their backyard and you pull into their driveway, but the minute you meet Carrie she puts you right at ease!
The treehouse has everything you could possibly need! Two fridges stocked with cold drinks. Coffee, tea and hot chocolate. A basket filled with snacks. Access to a full bathroom. There’s even a place to watch tv, but I don’t know why you would want to here. There are 4 adult bikes and helmets you can use, a grill, fire pit (with an amazing view) utensils and outdoor chairs. They even had a bed for our dog and dishes. The Treehouse is stocked with games and other fun things. The kids loved the swings under the treehouse and of course the slide that extended off of the first floor! If you love to hike there are trails that lead to Bell Isle from the treehouse. I lost track the number of times I heard my boys say “this is the best day ever”!
The Trailside Treehouse was such an amazing experience. We are so grateful to the Rogers Family for opening up their home and allowing others to experience the magic of their treehouse! My only regret is that we didn’t stay longer. We will be counting down the days until we return!
I’m not sure who had more fun, the kids or Athena (our dog). Don’t worry if you don’t have a dog the treehouse comes with one of the sweetest chocolate labs named Huck (short for Huckleberry). He kept Athena entertained the entire time! Just hold onto your cups and water bottles Huckleberry likes to snag them ;)
This beautiful butterfly decided to hang out with me for awhile!
My entire extended family came to celebrate my son’s birthday (warning: cell phone pic. Ha!)
My nephew and youngest son are the best of friends! I am so happy they got to share in this experience together!
