They say the best things in life aren't things and although I do agree, sometimes things make you very happy, like a brand new kitchen! Last year we made the decision to stay in the house that we started our family in and start making renovations to truly make it our own. We started with smaller projects like refinishing our hardwood floors redoing the staircase banister (still a work in progress) landscaping the yard and redoing our fireplace. This year our big project was the kitchen! Our old kitchen was totally dysfunctional with a lot of counter space that coudln't really be used. You could tell it was a "do it yourself" project and a lot of corners were cut. I'm not a big fan of cooking to begin with and this kitchen's setup (and the style that was far from our taste) made it even less enjoyable.
The outcome of this renovation exceeded our expectations! Cabinet Crafters did an amazing job and our contractor Jason Wood was awesome to work with! If you know anything about me you know that I love up-cycling! The kitchen table we had was a good solid oak table that my mom gave me in college. It can extend with 2 leaves and was perfect except for the fact that it was not our taste at all and needed some serious TLC after 20 + years of use. To replace this table with one as high a quality would cost a fortune, so we decided we would have it redone by our good friend James of James River Woodworks. He does amazing work and I had no doubt that he could turn this table into something we loved and he didn't disappoint us!
Oh and if you're wondering, the beautiful flowers are from Lesley's Garden at the South of the James Farmer's Market every Saturday at Forest Hill Park.
