Every life is truly a miracle and the most precious gift on earth. Brynlee is even more of a special little miracle because she gave her parents quite a scare during her mama's pregnancy. At 23 weeks Laura had to have an emergency rescue cerclage, a procedure in which stitches are used to close the cervix during pregnancy to help prevent pregnancy loss or premature birth, and went into premature labor twice

I'd like to introduce you to Baby Piper everyone! She arrived into this world on September 13, 2015 at 11:36 am weighing in at 8 lbs 2 oz! I love my job more than words can express. I get to snuggle the most precious gifts on earth as well as meet so many wonderful parents! I love getting to know and share in their excitement. Having children is the most amazing experience and although every day brings so much more love and wonderful memories there is nothing that quite compares to that moment when you hold your baby for the very first time. This time goes so quickly and. There is such a small window to capture the new life phase, babies so much after just a few weeks. Photographing newborns and seeing parents with their babies let's me relive my own memories and I am thankful for that every day! I'm so happy for these two mommies and wish their new little family all of the love and happiness in the world!

Quote from Mommy:

"Love at first sight is an understatement. The amount of love we have this little girl is indescribable. Our favorite quote for Piper, "Let her sleep. For when she wakes , she will move mountains". She will do great things!

Meet Baby Harrison everyone! Arriving 8 weeks early on August 8th weighing 5lbs!! In fact today happens to be Harrison's due date! What an honor it was to have the Green family in my studio! The girls were perfect angles and Harrison was a dream!

I've started a little tradition in my studio asking parents to write in a journal some words of wisdom, advice or anything else they are feeling at the moment so soon after their new little miracle entered their life! Mom had this to say...

"Harrison was born 8 weeks early on my birthday -I've never been so happy to share the attention on my day.  A healthy baby was the only present that really mattered to me this year and I got what I wished for!"

Welcome to the world Harrison many great adventures await you!

I am so thankful that my job allows me to snuggle so many precious babies. Those first 2 weeks are my favorite. It is such a small window and by the second week they have already begun to change. It happens so quickly and subtly that you may not even realize it unless you have pictures to look back on. My job was even better last week when I got to snuggle not one, but two little loves!

Wesley Leland and Emma Olivia were born on July 15th at 12:30 pm.  Wesley weighed in at 6 lbs 2 oz. and little Emma 4 lbs 10 oz.  It’s amazing what a difference a pound makes in the baby world. Emma looked so tiny compared to her brother.  They were so amazing! When I saw that both had a full head of hair I was even more in love! I’ve been told that the bond twins share is like no other.  Jenn said that the babies spoon when they are in their crib together, so I guess it begins before birth.  What I wouldn't give to see that! When I wrapped them together they slept so soundly. It was the sweetest thing I'd ever seen!

Technically this was my second set of twins. The first set was way back when I first started and I had no idea what I was doing, so I’m not sure that counts! I have to admit I was a bit nervous because it can be a challenge with one baby if he or she doesn’t sleep, is too wiggly or just isn’t happy with the situation, so I wasn't sure what two would be like. Wesley and Emma decided to take it easy on me though and were perfect little angels! I couldn’t believe it!

I am so happy and excited for Jenn and Mark. This was their first pregnancy and they were doubly blessed.  I alway ask new moms, when they are in the studio, to describe how they felt the first time they held their baby (or in this case babies). Jenn described so beautifully and wrote, “I never felt a joy so great and loving then I did the first time I laid eyes on the babies. It's an indescribable feeling that just warms your heart and I never thought I could love something/someone so much”.

I wish the Schweizer family so much love and happiness and cannot wait to watch Wesley and Emma as they grow!

Meet Ellis everyone! New to the world this past June and I had the privilege of photographing her with her wonderful family in their beautifully decorated home! I need Christy, who is responsible for the decor, to come to my house and give me some pointers. She credits Pinterest, but you still need to have to be creative and have talent to pull off many things on Pinterest!

It was so nice spending a couple of hours with the Coggins and getting to know them a little bit. Cooper, Ellis's 2 year old big brother, was into me when I first arrived and gave me the low down on all of his trucks. He was even allowing me to play with some! As with every kid though his age he became bored with me and the chase was on. I don't mind. I like a good challenge and no matter how much kids protest I always end up getting the cutest pictures that really show their personalities and Cooper was no exception!

Charlie, the Coggin's furriest and first child, has adjusted quite well to the new dynamics of his family. He went where they went and was pretty chill the entire time. He was such a good boy! Now let's get to the star of the day, Ellis. She was such a sweet baby and at only a few weeks old was very alert and curious about everything that was going on around her! Some may argue this, but at one point she gave quite a smile for the camera! Thank you so much Coggin family for allowing me into your home to capture such priceless moments. I wish you all much love and happiness of a lifetime!

Look at those tongues! So cute!

Meet Addison Adele everyone! Brand new to the world on June 24, 2015 weighing in at 7 lbs 10 ounces 21 inches! Addison is Rebecca & Jordan's first baby which is so special and exciting! Rebecca reported feeling relaxed and just happy when she first held her baby in her arms. It's a moment a mother will remember for ever!

Addison was a dream newborn to have in my studio. She was so cooperative and slept through most of her session. She was baby putty in my hands and allowed me to sculpt her in any adorable pose I saw fit.  She was such a sweet heart and I cannot get over her beautiful long lashes!! I've never seen a baby with such long lashes before! It's not hard to tell where they came from though, her mama shares the same gorgeous feature.

Welcome to this great big beautiful world Addison! I am so happy for the Steves family and the amazing journey they have ahead. Much love and happiness to them all!!

I would like to introduce you all to Kameron a very active young man and when I say young I mean only 10 days old! This newborn wanted no parts of sleeping, unless of course he was snuggled up against his mama! He busted through all of my wraps, but he knew what he wanted and that was to just unrestircted and look at everything around him! He did manage to fall asleep at the very end of our session, but it took a lot of work and we had to be very careful because one little loud breath and he jolted awake! I remember my oldest was the same way! I believe that it's called myclonic twitches which is pretty common in newborns. When you are taking pictures of a 10 day old newborn you learn very quickly that they are in charge. It’s ok though he had no problems being absolutely adorable for the camera it was just going to be on his terms and I’m ok with that.

Big brother Keylan did some snuggling with his new baby brother as well, although I’ve got to say he was more interested in all of my kid’s toys than his brother, but really isn’t that every toddler’s job? Someday Brennan & Grady (my kids) are going to realize that I let many other kids play with their toys when they aren’t around and they are not going to be too happy with me! Keylan eventually agreed to be photographed with his new little brother and he was just precious with him! It’s so sweet to watch siblings together. Although they don’t know it yet one day they will be each other’s best friend! They will likely fight like crazy too, but they will share a bond like no other.

Welcome to the world Kameron and congratulations to the Holmes family! I wish you much love and happiness through out your lives!

I am so excited to introduce you all to a very special newborn. All newborns are special, but this one in particular is the little brother to the second newborn I ever photographed and pretty much launched my career as a newborn photographer (you can read more about that in Malesa’s maternity post at the end of this post)!

Meet Thayer Daniel McLeod, born on June 9, 2015 at 3:11 pm. Weighing in at a whopping 8 lbs, 5 oz and 20.5 inches long!! He was such an angel during his photoshoot! He slept through most of the session and when he was asleep he was like putty in my hands!

I still can’t believe how far I’ve come in this business! When I photographed big brother Clement  4 years ago I didn’t know the first thing about posing a baby.  I desperately wanted to nail the  head in hands pose (aka “froggy” pose). It seemed impossible though. Where were these photographers finding these super human babies that had the strength to hold their heads like that at just a couple of weeks old? It was so frustrating! I knew enough not to let the baby’s head flop and that it needed to be supported, but I thought maybe there was some kind trick to it that I just couldn’t figure out. I later learned that there is a trick to it. It’s called Photo Shop. Just as I suspected there is no way for a baby to support their head like that. The image is a composition of two photographs merged together. Someone is always holding a part of the baby.  Although I didn’t get the shot with Clement I am excited that I was able to get it with Thayer!

When I met Thayer I was expecting to see a baby with white hair and full pink lips just like his big brother. Although he and his brother share the same lips (the most amazing lips I’ve ever seen) Thayer’s hair is much darker. Reminds me of my two boys, one white blond as a baby and the other super dark!

Clement has grown into such a sweet and handsome young man! It was so cool to photograph him with his little brother. I truly have the most rewarding job!
