When is the best time to take newborn portraits of your baby?
This is a great question! It’s important to know the answer to this before your baby is born, so you don’t miss the short window for newborn portraits. Newborns are the most sleepy during the first 3 weeks after birth. This is when you will want to have pictures taken. After 3 weeks your baby will start to become more alert for longer stretches of time and will begin to fill out losing that newborn look. Although babies still sleep a lot in the first couple of months after 3-4 weeks they are not as sleepy and it can be difficult to keep them asleep and cooperative during posing.
Since you don’t know when your baby will arrive you will want to reserve a spot for portraits in advance. Sarah Kane schedules a limited number of newborn sessions each month to guarantee she will have room in her schedule to photograph your baby within the first 3 weeks of birth no matter when they decide to enter this world.
Servicing Richmond, Chesterfield, Midlothian, Glen Allen, Petersburg, and Colonial Heights, Sarah’s welcoming studio is equipped to provide a comfortable and safe environment for your newborn. Each session is thoughtfully crafted to reflect your family's unique story, ensuring that every image is not just a photograph, but a beautiful memory.
