Family Photographer in Midlothian Virginia | Summer Daylillies Morning Mini-Session

I am so excited to post my favorites from this summer's mini-session that I pulled together last minute. The idea came to me when my uncle told me of a man named Don Bright who planted over 100,000 daylilies on his property and was opening it up to the public for FREE!! Wha-what?! Yes, that's right for free. He was especially encouraging photographers and artists to visit. I had to see this so the next morning my aunt and I went to check it out and I was blown away! It was so beautiful and a scene that most photographers only dream of. I of course brought my camera and started photographing all of the beautiful flowers. I was fortunate to meet Don and he was a kind and enthusiastic man. It was so evident that he loved life and appreciated the beauty of nature and wanted to share it with others. I asked him about bringing clients to his garden and he was all for it. The wheels started turning and with only a couple of days notice I managed to sell out 11 spots for the mini-session. I knew the location would draw people without a doubt! The more I walked around the garden and really thought about what Don was doing for the community it became clear to me what I needed to do. I was inspired to offer 15 minute mini-sessions with 1-5 high-resolution digital images for FREE! I've never done a 15 minute session before so I was a bit worried that I wouldn't get many pictures hence the 1-5. Turns out in 15 minutes I got lots of good pictures! It's hard not to with a location like this. Although I wanted to do the sessions for free I ended up having to charge $1 so that I could easily register participants through my website. Apparently I'm not allowed to charge $0 on my store. I suppose I see the logic, selling things for nothing would put one out of business real fast ;) Although it wasn't much I gave the $11 earned that day to Don. 

 Now, without further adieu allow me to share with you some of my favorites from the day! I cannot wait until next year to visit this magnificent garden again!

Loved this sweet brother and sister! You can't even tell that Jackson told me moments before he doesn't really like getting his picture taken. Could have fooled me!

Mini-Session Information | Sarah Kane Photography

What does a mini-session include? 

Mini-sessions include a 20-30 minute session and 5 edited high-resolution digital images with printing rights.

How will the 5 images be chosen?
Within 1 week of your mini-session digital proofs will be available for your viewing. You will choose which 5 images you would like edited.

Will I have the option of purchasing more than 5 images?
Yes! You may purchase additional images for $10 each or all images for an additional $100.

How will I receive my images?
All images will be available for downloading via your viewing gallery. From the gallery you will also be able to order high quality prints from a professional printing lab at a very low cost. Prints start at just $2.00!

How long will it take to receive my final edited images?

Each image is custom edited to ensure the highest quality. Images will be available for downloading within 1-3 weeks after the client chooses and communicates to Sarah which images they would like edited. 

Can I schedule a mini-session at any time? 
A Mini-Session is available Monday - Thursday only.

What if I need to cancel?
Deposits are non-refundable. If a client needs to reschedule the deposit may be transferred to a future session based on Sarah Kane Photography's availability. 

What if there is inclement weather?
In the event of severe weather (such as rain, blizzard like conditions, or extremely low temperatures) the session will be rescheduled at the earliest date possible. 

Seasonal Mini-Sessions | Questions & Answers

Seasonal Mini Sessions are a great option when you've already had your yearly family photo shoot, but need a quick photo in between.  They are great for holiday cards and/or gifts, mother's/father's day, or an inexpensive way to get seasonal family photos without purchasing a full session each time!

What is a mini-session? 
A mini-session is a marathon of photo shoots scheduled on a specific day, at one location, selected by Sarah Kane Photography. You simply register for a time, show up at the location, have fun with your family for 20-30 minutes while Sarah captures your love on camera!

What does a mini-session include?
Mini-sessions include a 20-30 minute session and 5 edited high-resolution digital images with printing rights.

Seasonal mini-sessions are offered sporadically throughout the year, at a discounted price, based on interest and Sarah's availability.  For scheduled mini-session dates please contact Sarah Directly. A regular mini-session can be scheduled Monday - Thursdays at a location of your choice within 30 miles of 23112. Please contact Sarah Kane for current prices.

What if I need to cancel?
Due to the nature of a mini-session all sales are final.  If a client cannot make their scheduled time payment may be used as a credit toward a future session with Sarah Kane Photography and will expire 1 year from the date of the original session.  Since seasonal mini-sessions are not scheduled regularly another may not be available within the expiration period.  Credits may be used towards any Sarah Kane Photography service or product.

What if there is inclement weather?
In the event of severe weather (such as rain, blizzard like conditions, or extremely low temperatures) at the discretion of the photographer, mini-sessions will be rescheduled for the following day.  You must be available both days.  If you cannot make the reschedule session your payment can be used as a credit toward a future session.  In the event that both days experience inclement weather the mini-session will be rescheduled at a later date. Those who are unable to attend the later date will be entitled to a refund or credit.  Bring layers depending on what season it is.
