Sarah Kane Photography | Family Photography in Midlothian VA

Midlothian and the whole Richmond VA area have some of the most beautiful parks and locations for photography. Although my go to places are beautiful it's always fun when a client takes you to a location you've never been before. The Sutton family contacted me about taking family portraits at the family farm. The farm had been newly purchased by Anne's parents and was a great location for pictures! I was really excited when Anne mentioned she'd like to include two ponies in a few pictures with her girls. I have no problem when families include pets during their photography session. I thought it was even cooler to include the family horses! 

The farm was so beautiful and charming, but not as charming as the Sutton girls! They were so much fun to photograph!! They were not shy in the least in front of me or my camera. I love it when kids come up with ideas for pictures and I've learned to always listen to them and try whatever they are thinking. I've never been let down. Kids minds are not polluted with all of the stresses we face as adults and therefore are just more creative than most of us. They know how to have fun and truly live in the moment. It's so special for me to let go and live in the moment with them! This is when I am able to get the most genuine and precious images capturing their true personalities. The Sweet Sutton girls had me smiling the entire time. They reminded me of me and my sister when we were their age. I asked asked the girls if they get along and if they were best friends. They looked at each other with a slight snarl and in unison said "no"! They were not fooling me though. It was so obvious that their bond was one that would never be broken. My sister and I fought like crazy growing up and yes we still get into it at times, but hands down she is my absolute best friend on the planet and I am positive that one day the Sutton girls are going to say the same thing. 

Have you ever seen a tree nut like this? What on earth is it? I took it home to show my boys. Brennan thought it was cool because it looks like a brain!
