For 2 years now I've been doing fall mini-sessions and am so happy to be able to offer families a session at a discounted price! If you've never had professional lifestyle pictures taken it's the perfect opportunity to try it out! Mini-sessions are also great when you just need a few quick pictures maybe as a mother's day or father's day gift or to use for a holiday card. The fall mini-sessions have been very popular and I've had several requests for a spring mini. This was something I really wanted to do, but raising two boys and working as a full-time teacher along with photography part-time, I just couldn't fit it in.
Now that I am no longer teacher I was so excited to be able to offer a spring mini this year and it was a huge success! It was so nice to see many returning families as well as meeting new ones! I'm always looking for new locations and was so happy to discover Henrico's Armour House & Gardens at Meadowview Park. It was the perfect location for my first spring mini-session! I've lived in the Richmond area for almost 6 years now and this was the first I'd heard of it. Henrico has some of the best parks around and the greatest thing is they are all FREE! I chose this location for my morning session and Sunday Park in Brandermill for my evening session (see my favorites from the evening session here).
If you're looking to tone your legs quickly I highly recommend doing 8 sessions in one day! My legs hurt so bad that I could barely walk for two days, but I LOVE it!!! I never realize how much squatting I actually do during a photo shoot, but my muscles always remind me afterwards!
One thing I like doing for my mini sessions is including some props. This year I came up with the idea of a tea party because I would have loved that when I was little and thought the kids might like it too. I was right! They loved it, even the boys! Thank you to my good friend Francesine for letting me use her new (yet old) table. It was perfect! Inspired by the pinwheel garden at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden I thought wouldn't it be cool to have my own garden of pinwheels? What kid doesn't love a pinwheel? Of course bubbles are a must. Bubbles make everyone happy! I also had the idea to bring chalk for those little ones who have a hard time staying in one place (that would be most kids actually). It was perfect. The chalk kept them occupied just long enough for me to snap a few pictures!
I had so many favorites from the spring mini, it was so difficult narrowing it down to share with all of you! If you missed this year's spring mini don't worry it will be back next spring and of course my annual fall mini just in time for holiday pictures and gifts! I've already started planning and have some exciting new props and location in the works!
