Meet Baby Sloane & Family | Newborn portraits in Richmond Virginia
/Some of you may remember that gorgeous mama I photographed just a few short weeks ago in the snow. I am so excited to introduce you to Emily's entire family and the newest addition, Baby Sloane! For those of you who don't know the story I'll give you the quick version. During Richmond's great blizzard of 2015 (ha!) Emily posted in a photography group that I belong to asking if anyone wanted to "play in the snow" with a 36 week preggers and take some fun pictures. I responded and the rest is history!!
Emily's maternity pictures were absolutely stunning and I was so honored when she asked me to photograph her baby's new born portraits! I was very excited and couldn't wait to meet the entire family who wasn't there for the maternity session. When Emily had her first son, Silas, she delivered in the hospital, but for her second Emily and her husband Jeff decided they wanted to deliver their baby girl at home. With Jeff by her side along with two amazing women Sara Fariss Krivanec from MotherBaby Doula Services and Midwife Nancy Giglio of Richmond Birth Services baby Sloane arrived just a couple of weeks later on March 2 at 8:45 pm weighing 7lbs 1 oz and 20 inches long! Emily delivered Sloane in a birthing tub that belonged to Emily's midwife and has been through many births. As each newborn becomes part of this tubs history parents paint their story for future generations to see.
When I went to Emily's for Sloane's newborn portraits the tub was still there and it was so cool seeing everyone's paintings.
Sloane was perfect during her newborn session! She slept when she needed to and rocked her photo shoot. She had the most adorable hats and wraps that grandma Rona Greenwald, known as Safta,(hebrew for grandmother) made. Big brother Silas was so adorable and did exactly what a big brother is supposed to do during a photo shoot, climb all over Mommy and make me work really hard for these pictures! Emily, Jeff, Silas and Sloane, thank you so much for allowing me into your home to capture such special moments of your family! Much love and happiness to you all!
Jeff made this cast of Emily during her pregnancy with Silas and sent it away to Emily's friend, Stephanie Donaldson, a very talented artist of Purple Penguin Art Studio, where she turned the cast into beautiful art!
